The end of April leads to a lot of “stuff” being left out in driveways as a result of spring cleaning madness and University students going home for the summer. This inspired Josh Snider, co-founder of Ecology Ottawa (an organization that focuses on local environmental issues and sustainable living) to find a solution for keeping useful material out of the landfills.

Josh rounded up volunteers to collect people’s unwanted goods and hosted the 1st annual “Great Glebe Garage Sale” with proceeds supporting Ecology Ottawa, and 10% is donated to the Ottawa Food Bank.

The Great Glebe Garage Sale is now an annual event heading into its 6th year hosting around two thousand people in the Ottawa community (that’s a lot of stuff to sell)! Last year, FROGBOXbegan a partnership with Josh. FROGBOX moving boxes were provided to help move and store items for sale at the event.

Josh has found many benefits to using FROGBOXes. “They stack well, they safely store without having to worry about the weather, and they look good too! How did I even do this before FROGBOX ” Josh continued “this event would not be possible without organizations like FROGBOX that have helped to make a sustainable difference to our planet.”

The Great Glebe Garage Sale has taken on a carnival feel with live DJs, bands, dancers, and a vegetarian BBQ. This year, it will be taking place in Ottawa on Saturday May, 25th, 2013 from 9 am-3 pm at 680 & 690 Bank Street (at Glebe Avenue, in the Rogers Plus and Kunstadt Sports parking lots).
